Dennis Ritchie - A true loss

Today I learned of the passing of Dennis Ritchie, the creator of the C programming language and co-developer of UNIX.

Without C and Unix it is likely that you would not be using the Internet as we know it now - or even a computer.

He was a true pioneer and he has left his mark in the two most influential technologies there is. The giants of the technology industry nearly all stand upon his shoulders.

It is a shame that he has been overshadowed in the media by the likes of the inventor of  the "computer as a jail, made cool".
